Malezi Partners
Malezi School partners with schools in other countries under its exchange programme aimed at giving our students a chance to meet with students from other countries thus exposing them to other cultures thereby making them better citizens of the world. A couple of them are:
- Institute of African American Studies – Denver, Colorado U.S.A.
Students from Institute of African American Studies one of Malezi’s partner school’s visited the institution in June and July of 2005. The group together with the Malezi School students and teachers were participated in educational and cultural exchange activities. During their stay the visitors and our students put together a dramatized version of the ‘Lwanda Magere’ legend. The dance was so well choreographed that it was later taken up by Bomas of Kenya and is still often performed by their dance troupe. Other activities included environmental conservation and acts of charity. The students joined Malezi High School students on their Annual School Trip to the Maasai Mara. During the trip they visited local schools in Narok, where they interacted with the pupils, exchanged ideas on systems of education and culture. They also donated books and other equipment to these schools.
- Sundown High School – Isle of Wight - Scotland
Students from Sundown High School in the Isle of Wight Scotland visited Malezi School in July and August of 2001 under the school’s exchange programme. The students participated in academic, co- curricular and environmental conservation activities. They even got a chance to participate in the Annual Malezi Science Fair and National Students Science Conference. They worked with the High School and Primary School students on mosaics for the Ngong Forest Sanctuary Nature trail, later to be known as the Winnie Duku Nature Trail. They later joined Malezi High School students on their Annual School Trip which took them on educational tours of Lake Naivasha, Hell’s Gate National Park, Olkaria Geothermal Plant and Lake Nakuru National Park. This was a great a fun and educational experience for students from both institutions.
